Advocacy 101

Advocacy is speaking out on issues that matter to you and your organization. It is about taking a stand on an issue or offering your opinion around a particular need that may exist in a population you serve. Presented in conjunction withThe Louisiana Budget Project, Advocacy 101 will demystify nonprofit advocacy and share with nonprofit leaders how they can be better advocates for their organizations and missions. This workshop is designed for nonprofit staff, board members, and volunteers interested in learning more about nonprofit advocacy. In this session, you will learn:
- The facts about nonprofit lobbying rules and regulations
- How to develop an advocacy agenda and communications strategy
- Proven practices for engaging your constituents in your advocacy efforts
- How to communicate your message to legislatures, elected officials and other decision-makers
Advocacy 101 workshop is on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 8:30 am-12:30 pm at the Greater New Orleans located at 1055 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130.
