Richard A. Martinez

Senior Program Officer

Richard joined the Foundation in 2007 and currently serves as Sr. Program Officer. He has over 20 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector. He is responsible for grantmaking for the Foundation’s extensive portfolio of Donor Advised Funds. From 1994 until 2005, he was the Executive Director of the Multi-Service Center for the Homeless in New Orleans, a program that helped people experiencing homelessness regain control of their lives. Richard taught urban studies at the University of New Orleans (UNO) from 2005 to 2007. He advanced to Ph.D. candidacy in urban studies at UNO. He earned a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of New Orleans in 2001 and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering Technology from the City University of New York at City College in 1989. Richard was born in La Ceiba, Honduras, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, but New Orleans is Richard’s home where he has lived for the last 26 years.
