GiveNOLA Day 2022 Raises Incredible $7.9 Million in Ninth Year
NEW ORLEANS – (May 3, 2022) Tuesday, the Greater New Orleans Foundation announced that while the final numbers won’t be confirmed for several weeks, initial returns indicate that the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s GiveNOLA Day, hosted by Baptist Community Ministries and powered by Entergy, generated an incredible $7.9 million in donations for a record breaking 947 nonprofits exceeding the 2021 total of 910. The total number of online contributions exceeded 57,000 at the close of the 24-hour period.

Foundation Activates Fund for Tornado Recovery
The Foundation has announced it has activated its Disaster Response & Restoration Fund in response to yesterday’s tornados. The fund provides grants that support local nonprofits leading short, medium, and long-term response and recovery efforts. The Foundation has also provided immediate grants totaling $50,000 to five organizations that are coordinating their response with emergency managers.

Greater New Orleans Foundation Awards $1 Million in Grants from the Greater Together Fund for Racial Equity
New Orleans, LA (February 22, 2022) – Today, the Greater New Orleans Foundation (Foundation) announced renewal grants totaling $1 million to 31 Black-led organizations as part of its Greater Together Fund for Racial Equity. The fight for equity for the LGBTQ community has had many queer icons who have worked tirelessly on the frontlines of progress for decades. As we wrap up Black History Month, we pay homage to one of the trailblazers in what we know now as “Pride:” Marsha P. Johnson. Johnson was born Malcolm Michaels Jr. on August 24, 1945 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Celebration of Black Philanthropy 2022
Monday, February 7, 2022, the Greater New Orleans Foundation hosted its 3rd Annual Celebration of Black Philanthropy at the Historic Carver Theater. LGBTQ Fund Grantee Spotlight: Covenant House NOLA
In launching the LGBTQ Fund in 2016, we were particularly moved by the Out in the South Report, which had been released by Funders for LGBTQ Issues a few years prior. The report shared that while the South had more lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) adults than any other part of the country, the region received just 3-4% of domestic funding for LGBTQ issues. LGBTQ people in the South were also among the most likely to be experiencing poverty.
