The Greater New Orleans Foundation Organizational Effectiveness Initiative (OE) and Gillis, Ellis & Baker, Inc. partnered to host a workshop on the recent developments in human resources and risk management. This workshop provided information on Federal employment discrimination laws including what is prohibited, how these laws are enforced, punishments for violations, and protected classes. Participants learned the different types of sexual harassment and what employers must do to protect themselves including best practices for conducting investigations. Information was also provided on workplace violence including risk factors and prevention strategies. This workshop aimed to help organizations:
- Reduce their risk of being held liable in employee management situations
- Create a workplace environment that treats employees both fairly and legally
- Eliminate harassment and discrimination to create a safe work environment for all
