    Today, Greater New Orleans Foundation President and CEO, Andy Kopplin joined Mayor LaToya Cantrell to announce that Blue Bikes, Louisiana’s first bikeshare program, will return to the City of New Orleans later this summer. A fleet of 500 pedal-assist e-bikes will be ready to ride by September 1.

    Today, the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) announced new grants from its LGBTQ Fund totaling $100,000 to 18 area nonprofits. The Greater New Orleans Foundation’s LGBTQ Fund supports organizations that increase the quality of life and access to opportunity for LGBTQ individuals and families, particularly the most marginalized members of the community, including elders, transgender youth and adults, LGBTQ people of color, low-income LGBTQ people, and LBGTQ persons who are disabled. Since its inaugural year (2016), the GNOF’s LGBTQ fund has made over $450,000 in grants to 43 nonprofits across our region.

    Today, the Greater New Orleans Foundation announced that while the final numbers won’t be confirmed for several weeks, initial returns indicate that the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s GiveNOLA Day, presented by Baptist Community Ministries and powered by Entergy, generated an astounding $8.1 million in donations for 910 nonprofits, exceeding its 2020 total of $7.1 million. The total number of online contributions exceeded 67,000 at the close of the 24-hour period.
